Online Virtual Studio (OVS)

This is the latest reel video of the Online Virtual Studio (OVS) project. We conducted it together with Oğulcan Üneşi and Serkan Uysal since 2022. We tried to develop a tool for online and blended education in architectural studios. The tool has specific features tailored for design studios. İstanbul Bilgi University Scientific Research Fund partially supported this project. This video showcases the latest toolset OVS provided. The tool takes some interaction concepts from gaming and incorporates them into the needs of an architectural design studio. The conference paper we presented together with Üneşi in the 2022 Digital Design Symposium at Eskişehir Technical University explains the tool and its development methodology. Below is an English translation of that paper.

I posted about this project and the tool previously here and here. This time, I am presenting the paper and the reel video to finalize this phase of its development. I hope that we are going to continue this project in the future. We tested this tool in my Architectural Design Studios and it proved very efficient in terms of providing much-needed tools for the interaction between studio instructors and students. This paper and video might become the guide or stepping stone for more advanced tools in the future. There are many similar tools commercially available today. On the other hand, this technology provided several solutions which are tested throughout the pandemic period. However, as a university project, we developed OVS with the direct feedback of the students and studio instructors. Stay tuned for more information about Online Virtual Studio (OVS).
