Scary Patterns

While digging through my archives, I found an old animation I made in 2023. Back then, I was generating patterns with Parakeet. Thanks to this talented add-on, I managed to create a nice pattern by dressing a different component onto a Snub Square tiling base. However, for some reason, things started turning into a horror movie after that. MultiPipe was popular back then. So, I converted this pattern into surfaces using MultiPipe and attempted an animation using Rhino’s rendered viewport and lights.

In this post, I am sharing the files. There are two point lights in the Rhino file. You will need to set the background color of the Rendered viewport to black in the Rhino settings. I added a small VB.NET component to the Grasshopper file to make this happen automatically. As you will see, the Grasshopper code is fairly simple. You can get interesting results by dragging the animation slider.

I found a few more pattern experiments like this in the same folder. This was the most repulsive one among them. Don’t forget to install Parakeet to be able to use this code.
